Packaged inside a compact and sturdy plastic case, it weighs only 11 pounds total and stores safely and easily until you need it most. That’s a convenience that teens, seniors, or folks with mobility impairments will appreciate. No need to work up a sweat jacking a car up by hand when the Black Bull Electric Car Jack will air up your tires quickly and effortlessly. With a lifting height of 5 to 14 inches, the Black Bull 12 Volt Automatic Electric Car Jack can lift most four-door and two-door cars, sedans or coups with standard wheels. I tried the jack on my Avalanche (weighs over 6,000 pounds) and it easily lifted it to enable a tire change if needed. I was concerned because the jack is noisy while under load (because of its gear reduction system) but it operated satisfactorily. I read the other Amazon reviews before buying the jack. One reviewer said the slotted cradle broke while lifting his vehicle, and I agree that part does seem to be a little flimsy. The Avalanche has a flat surface on the bottom of the frame, and I also used a small block of wood between the pad and frame to spread the load. The pad didn't break. You would need to use the slot for many cars because they have a flange under the body at the lifting point. My Camry has this flange and the stock manual jack has a slot similar to the electric jack, but much sturdier. I didn't try the jack on the Camry, but I'm confident it would work OK.
As another reviewer said, the jack will not extend high enough to lift a vehicle with high ground clearance, such as my 4WD Avalanche. I cut two pieces of 2 X 12 wood to use under the jack base, and the problem was solved. The Camry is much lower and I wouldn't need any of the blocks. My jack came with a small plastic crank that could be used to manually operate it failed (blown fuse, etc). You would have the turn the crank many times to lower the jack (I wouldn't even try to use it to raise it), but is good to have it for backup. The instructions made no mention of the manual crank, but it was easy to figure out what it was for.
I would recommend this jack for anyone. I am well over 60 years old and am always looking for tools to make tasks easier. Believe me, if you have a flat and need to change it on the shoulder of an Interstate (or anywhere else) you would be glad you had the electric jack. I use my heavy-duty floor jack for routine maintenance work at home - tire rotation, oil changes, minor repairs, etc. I wouldn't use the electric jack it for routine non-emergency lifting because it is obviously not heavy-duty and may not last long if used often.
I used it a total of four times and during these four times as many other reviewers, l was delighted. After all, what is required of this thing anyway? Made to lift and return, period. The fifth time it was used to jack a Prius, no less, the motor continued running yet not raising the car any longer. It would NOT lower either. It would just idly run and smoke...yes, smoke. My battery was getting hot, no use continuing so l had to get my manual jack to release this clunker. When it was out, the side of the gearbox assembly had basically blown out. The wall was pushed out by gears slipped off their axle. After checking them l realized they are made of crap iron, extremely brittle. The only thing keeping the car up was the worm gear and the axle ran by it was bending as in ready to release. I was lucky the car didn't drop while changing from one jack to another...in this situation l saw no other alternative getting the car down.
Okay so maybe you figure yours will be just fine, meaning you are willing to gamble, well, let me just say that because of ultra cheap materials used here, at the very least the car could have been seriously damaged. I very seldom feel the need to criticize, but this seemingly useful and convenient tool is dangerous, especially after working well a few times, it inspires trust.
I hope l helped some here and have not wasted my time. This jack was for my wife's use in case of an emergency. This sorry jack could have been the need for an emergency.
IN SPITE OF IT ALL and believe it or not l bought a second one over a year later...because "in spite of it all" it is extremely convenient to use. To make it safer l jack my cars up barely loosening the nuts and use a jack stand to substitute ASAP. I know, it's the way to do it when using a scissor jack anyway. Just had to give in. Maybe l had a lemon the first time. This thing is such a great idea and it is too bad it does not come in a beefier format.
If you are over 60 years in age and change your own tires or may be stuck in a place where you have to change it yourself. This jack is the ticket and is very reasonably priced for seniors.
As they say don't leave home without one.
I used it once, and works as advertised, and for about $80, it's an alright deal . . . again, the quality of material and "robustness" isn't really there . . . it screams CHEAP! But the motor assembly at least looks/feels kinda beefy.
Recommendation: yes ONLY if it's not your primary/only jack (buy a hydraulic for use at home in the garage) and only to be used as an emergency/replacement of OEM (average use of once a year). I just don't see it lasting more 20-30 lifts . . .
Hope this helps.
